Do you need a visa to enter Seychelles?

No. Seychelles is a visa-free country. However, all visitors must be in possession of a valid passport which is valid for the period of the intended stay.  For more information, please visit the Seychelles Immigration website.

Are any vaccinations required for Seychelles?

There are no vaccinations required for entry into Seychelles. However, any visitor travelling from a yellow fever area is required to show proof of a yellow fever vaccination.

What currency is used in Seychelles?

Seychelles uses the Seychelles Rupee (SCR).

Which currency is best to use while in Seychelles?

Euros, dollars and British pounds are all fine to use in Seychelles. However, it is recommended that you use Seychelles rupees as much as possible whenever paying for services. You can withdraw money upon arrival from the ATMs at the airport or around the islands. You can also exchange your cash to rupees at the numerous bureau de change offices or banks. Most shops and restaurants will also accept credit or debit cards. Just don’t forget to convert back any rupees at the end of your holiday as you won’t be able to do so in your home country.

What is the drinking age in Seychelles?

The legal drinking age in Seychelles is 18 years. Note that alcohol is only sold in shops during certain times. Mon – Thu 1130 am to 9 pm, Fri 1130 am to 11 pm, Sat 0830 am to 11 pm and Sun 0830 am to 9 pm.

Which side of the road do you drive on in Seychelles?

In Seychelles, we drive on the left-hand side of the road.

Do I need an international driver's license to rent a car in Seychelles?

No, it is fine to use your normal national drivers licence from your home country. However, you will need to have at least a couple of years’ experience. This can vary from company to company so it’s best to check this before hiring. Also, keep in mind that the legal driving age in Seychelles is 21 years and some companies may insist on being at least 23 years. So again, it’s best to double check this prior to hiring the vehicle. What language is spoken in Seychelles?

Seychelles has 3 official languages – English, French and Seychellois Creole and most Seychellois will speak all three. 

How can I stay connected while in Seychelles?

Most hotels and guest houses offer free WiFi. There is also the option of purchasing a local SIM card whilst in Seychelles. These can be purchased at either Airtel or Cable & Wireless offices.

What type of plug is used in Seychelles?

The Seychelles uses the Type G plug, the British 3-pin plug. It is recommended you bring along a travel adaptor if necessary. Also note that the standard voltage is 240 V.

Is Seychelles a good family destination?

Definitely. Seychelles is a great destination for all ages. Whether travelling as a family, a couple, a group, or solo, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

When is the best time to visit Seychelles?

Generally speaking, there is really no best time to visit Seychelles as the weather is warm and sunny year round. That being said, much depends on what types of activities you would like to do, as Seychelles’ weather is influenced by the trade winds. Is it possible to visit Seychelles on a budget?

Whilst Seychelles is considered an expensive holiday destination, there are definitely things you can do in order to cut down on the total cost of your holiday. For example, choosing smaller guest houses or self-catering accommodation instead of large luxury hotels can make a huge difference.
